The world didn't come to an end....

So the power cable pooched on the modem, nothing earth shattering but we forget how dependent we have become on the World Wide Web (AKA WWW).  At our home both the DH and I have smartphones, the oldest has a tablet and we have a laptop.  I cannot count on both my hands the number of times we went to "just check on something" or "I'll just look that up", only to receive either really slow results (we have very limited service with our data at home, the #1 reason we got wireless to begin with) or an error message and to check our internet connection.

But we survived and the cable is coming by courier in "24 to 48 hours" which means if it is not there today, it will be there tomorrow.  Luckily, work still has a great connection :)

Today marks a special day in our house, 11 years ago we went from 2  to  3!  So I wanted to wish Cameron a wonderful 11th birthday - born 11 years ago on opening day deer hunting, which is happening today as well!

Here is one of my favourite pictures of him, with his cheeky little grin...

And I've posted about his birthday in the past, so if you want to see "baby" pictures...follow these two links to his 4th b-day and his  9th b-day.

Love you to the moon and back, but I won't tell anyone (or kiss you in-front of your friends)!

Love Mom.

We can do this...bear with me.

No promises that each and every post will have great content... I do live a very busy life.

Last night we got derailed during the plans for Cameron's birthday as we were planning to go to Fort Fright but it was canceled due to high winds.  So, a movie was the rescue of the night, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 in the 3d with my oldest and his friend.  It was alright for a kids show and we were surprised that the boys didn't decide on something a little more mature.  Tonight was dinner with my in-laws and our British friends, tomorrow is dinner with my parents.

Night all, tomorrow is a new day.

April Fool's...

Every year I'm "the fool"...literally.  I always think, this year will be different, this year my family will do something to make me feel special on my birthday....well, I need to learn to not expect anything. I also understand that at times, money is a factor and I completely understand that, my DH did make me dinner but I thought my boys might be at an age where they talked Daddy into helping make cupcakes or something.  But enough of a pity party, I'm a year older and I'm determined to enjoy this year as much as I can, taking time for myself as I see fit and needed.  The first step was booking holidays for a week in May, with nothing planned but time for me!  No work, the kids are in school and my husband is working a few days in the middle of that week as well.

A little white lie...

So on my last post I told a little white lie - just to help keep a secret in place until after Thursday night. See, Ann of Knowledge and Needles was turning a certain age and I was attending her surprise birthday party on Thursday evening and didn't want to ruin the surprise if she read my blog in advance! If you want to get her first hand review, check out her blog entry GOTCHA! It was a wonderful evening and I had a ball of fun...it also meant I got to extend my retreat by an extra night at the Timber House! No cleaning happened on Thursday - my house is still a disaster but I stitched my butt off this weekend and will post the photos as soon as I can. The retreat was as wonderful as it has been twice a year for the last few years. I didn't take a lot of pictures (and no way of adding them at the moment) as we discussed that they all look the same from year to year, just different clothes! So pictures to follow, I had three starts and three finishes this weekend so I really do have some stitching to show!

A finish! And a start...

Etude
Whispered by the Wind
28 count flax linen
DMC 4130
I finished this up because I couldn't wait to get start on the project for my best friend who is due to have her first baby in April - maybe the baby and I will share a birthday!

Sepia Tones Baby
Maria Diaz
28 count white Lugana
DMC's
This is actually stitching up surprisingly fast. I thought for sure all those browns would give me a headache but I enlarged the pattern (four modest pages) and I'm being very diligent about highlighting what I have stitched to make it easier to pick up and keep going. And I will be doing the back stitch as I go...once I get DMC 3781 because it seems to be missing from my collection. Anyway, cheers all - I'm off to get some actual work done at work....don't tell anyone I was here :-) ***EDIT***I typed this up at home on Sunday but then saved it as a draft to finish on the high speed at work, as well as add the pictures...that is why it is dated for Sunday but showed up on Wednesday!

I'm alive

This will end up being short and sweet, I have no pictures and I have not been stitching. But I am here, swamped at work and just realising that I have A LOT happening between now and the end of the year. I've been visiting all my online friends and leaving comments where I can, I hope to have things sorted and slowed down shortly, if not, then I may not be above water again until the new year! Stay tuned, I have a couple new events happening that will require stitching but I'm not allowed to spill the beans yet (and neither one has anything to do with me, so don't be thinking it!).

Nothing special today...

Today I'm celebrating my 31st birthday. Nothing special planned, our company from England is taking me out for lunch (because Cameron is at school today and it will be a much quieter, easy time with just Caleb) and that is about it. DH is away for work this week, not that he would have planned anything anyways. I'm hoping to spend some quality time with my L*K double flips on black and finish up 'remember' and then complete 'give'...I'll post pictures soon. I'm still waiting for the fabric from Mindy of Sugarmaple so I can stitch it again on a lighter colour. I've almost given up and if I don't see the fabric by the end of next week I will put in an order somewhere else.

*~* Hope everyone has a wonderful stitching day! *~*

Quietly here...

I haven't posted lately, and it will be some time before I'm posting regularly again, nothing is wrong, actually at the moment everything is right. We have friends visiting from the UK at the moment and we are enjoying our time with them. When I get a chance I will post, but it may not be until 5th or 6th of April when life heads back to something as close to normal as we can have at my house. I did want to put a birthday wish out there to my friend Dani....who is celebrating her birthday on Thursday (Mar 27th) HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANI!

A SAL, A SAL, we are having another SAL!

This one is last minute and I wasn't even going to post it here but there were a few persons that are more than welcome to attend that are not members of the yahoo group I own so I thought this was the easiest way to get the word out there. When: Saturday, September 15th (and 16th if need be) Where: Rebecca's house (Camden East) Why: BECAUSE WE CAN! So, if anyone is interested in attending, it is a throw together day and I will have my boys (the oldest will be attending a birthday party for the afternoon so he will be out of the house) but we will just have to work around them. If you need directions on how to get to my place please email me at curt_reb at hotmail.com HOPE TO SEE YOU HERE!

Stitching update and the whirlwind of life!

Our wonderful company left us on Friday afternoon and we recieved a call from them on Saturday morning that they were back in Watford England, safe and sound. Since then, like has been a whirlwind around here with no sign of stopping in the near future! But before I blab on about that, here are updates on the two pieces of stitching that I have been working on.
First, the Happily Ever After, it doesn't look like I completed a lot since the last update but I had to frog almost all of the swirl and start again. I had used the wrong colour in one spot and miscounted in another! So working on this one when no little fingers are around.
And one that I don't believe I have posted about yet, Fall Y'All by Lizzie Kate. This one is for me. It is being stitched on Frosted Pumpkin from Silkweaver. I had to find something to work on that has blocks of colour as Caleb has found out a number of times now that throwing Mommy's box of thread across the room gets a great reaction! This is one that I can take a needle full of thread and stitch with him in the room as well. P.S. - it is a scarecrow
And now on to the whirlwind! Frank and Siobhan (pronounced Shivon) left on Friday afternoon and DH and I packed the boys in the truck and made a speedy trip to town for a few groceries and a present for wee Caleb. Saturday we had a birthday party for Caleb at noon hour. Hard to believe that on Thursday (April 19th) he will be one year old! It was a great day, my friend Corie and her DH and two children made the trek from Bowmanville for the event and her little guy Lucas is growing like a REAL bad weed! He makes Caleb look like a little pipsqueek! Here he is being a very happy boy on the kitchen table with my Dad holding him up.
And here is the birthday boy Caleb with his cake that his Nanny made him.
Saturday night we were off again to town for a 60th birthday dinner for my uncle. Sunday was spent returning all the things we borrowed while our company was here to their rightful owners (4-wheeler and trailer).
Monday, Cameron had school. Caleb and I went to play group and then I was invited to the school in the afternoon for Spring Tea, what an idea, go to spring tea in a snowstorm! The roads were not too bad but I'm glad I was only going as far as the school.
Today (Tuesday), we were home most of the day other than a trip to the dentist for myself (cleaning) and Cameron. It was Cameron's first time and he did a wonderful job and the dentist told him that he had AMAZING teeth so he has told everyone that since we got home. So, it is getting late and I'm tired so I'm off to bed....nighty night all.

The English have landed....again

I just realised that I have dropped out of cyberland without so much as a word so while I have a free moment I thought I should let you all know where I have been off to.
Our friends from England arrived on Friday night (March 30th) and life has been a whirlwind since! Cameron had three birthday parties this past weekend and his year-end skating show.
Here he is waiting for his turn on the ice...
And here he is on the ice, not the best picture but it was the best I could do with my camera.

He had a ball and loved the guest skater Jamie Forsythe, he was in awe of his jumping. Now, my DH would have a heart attack if Cameron decided to become a figure skater but at this point we are just happy to see that he isn't crawling around the ice on his hands and knees!

And Sunday evening was spent having a wonderful birthday meal for me at Red Lobster. We had a great time and yesterday and today we have just been relaxing a little as DH is working.

So, hope everyone is doing well and I will be back on to post more often after the 13th of April!

I need help. Ideas, options, opinions?

I have completed the stitching on a piece for my MIL's 60th Birthday. I think it needs something else/more but I'm not sure what. Here it is:

It is three freebies from Lizzie*Kate. I stitched them on a hand-dyed piece from Silkweaver that came as one of my FOMC pieces. I still have to add the beads to "Hello Spring", the heart charm to "Count Your Blessings" and the butterfly charm to "Bloom".
Any ideas what I could put as wording at the top? Or should I just leave this be and frame it. She still has a piece I stitched for her for Christmas 2005 up in her kitchen so I'm hoping this will replace it for at least a little while! Here is the joy piece:

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY CAMERON!

4 years ago today I was having our first son.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON!

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

A quick post

DH is home, Caleb is growing and we are planning two birthday parties for Friday....how is that for busy! And to top it off, Caleb is not feeling well so Mommy is up more times in the night than she can count so she is B!TCHY!
Curt arrived home on Saturday in the early afternoon, with no moose. Doesn't surprise me but I like moose and was looking forward to enjoying it all winter. Oh well, his parents and grandmother were over for supper and it was a nice evening all around. After I sent him to get propane so I could cook and do the laundry (gas cooktop and clothes dryer).
Caleb had his six month checkup yesterday and he is the most average baby on the growth charts. Weighs in at 18 lbs now.
Cameron is having two birthday parties this year, one in the afternoon with friends on Friday (it is a day off school for all students here)and then one that evening with the Nanna's,Poppa's, Aunt, Uncle and cousins.
Grumpy Caleb is calling from the bedroom...gotta run!
